Morning all,, it's been fantastic to connect with you all over the past few weeks thank you 🙏🌈
Good morning all from Eugene in Walthamstow.
The oldest man in Australia was recently asked about the secret to his longevity and one of the things he said was “I just sit every day”.
last good morning from Ealing
Q Why should we not do just sitting without other cultivation?
Love that Lisa - food for thought.
Me too, Ani. Q: Is opening your eyes too much of a distraction in just sitting?
Thk u I have to go now x
Q: I find that I hold some soft muscle tone in my belly to feel comfortable sitting and also to breathe (especially when breathing out). When I really relax my belly it feels uncomfortable and makes breathing hard. Is it natural or ok to not completely relax the belly? And if you think I should keep trying to relax, do you have any tips?
So lovely, thank you x
Amazing, thank you!
Q who was the beautiful poem by today? And thank you!
That was lovely. Thank you
Thank you 🙏
love that poem so much!
So lovely, needed that. Thank you
‘A Tale’ and ‘After You Speak’ by Edward Thomas (from his Collected Poems); ‘The Trees’ and ‘Water’ by Philip Larkin (also from Collected Poems); ‘Prayer’ by Carol Ann Duffy (I have it in the Staying Alive anthology); ‘Above me Broods’ by Sangharakshita (from Poems and Short Stories, Complete Works vol. 25)
Much needed. Heartfelt thanks.
Alison Keane McFadden
thank you that was lovely 🙏
thank you 😊
Ruth Evans, Publishing Manager
Q what do you do if you get interrupted while meditating? (I had to get up, dress and go out into the rain and move my car - then came back to it!)
Q. If somerhing pops into your head is it ok to ponder on it?
Zoom user Jane Lord
thank you that was really lovely I have managed to get up every morning for three weeks
Really enjoyed this final session Thank you so much
Q - feel frustration when the mind wonders. Any ideas how to tackle the frustration?
Thank for that, really lovely.
Should we practise just sitting as often as the mindfulness or breathing and the metta bhavana? Or less often?
q: how to get more grounded in the chair and feet?
Q. you are right..didnt want to leave especially last few minutes in just sitting, after some distractions before. are we allowed to dwell? how to best resume when in deep state to avoid some sort of shock perhaps?
Thank you for a great week
I really enjoyed that- thank you. I was in an IT development group this week and mentioned I’d just heard “The Trees” and they sent it to all as their “poem of the week”. :-)
I found that really relaxing. Seemed to drift off altogether sometimes. Seemingly completely unaware at points. Very spaced out in places. Images came and went - mainly cats. And at one point my cat seemed to me to be both on my lap and an awareness of him on the sofa at the same time. Thoughts came in and out of my mind which I was not sure were things that had actually happened, or were imagined. Like I lost a sense of what was real and what was not.
Thank you. Found that much easier to do and relax my mind. Very calming. I realise I am always looking for the next thing to do and always wish I could stop doing that. I think.that is why I enjoyed this so much, a revelation!
lovely just sitting it felt free.
really enjoyed this last session. Found I got into a peaceful place more easily with awith a
Thank you, this has been a wonderful three weeks.
I did find the just sitting practice somewhat more difficult (mind bouncing around) but I brought in some elements from the yoga practice, like breathing into the body and letting the quiet in. thank you!
Thank you so much for all the meditation this week. It has been amazing
Kate Keara Pelen
Q felt more physical stillness than usual but the mind was sort of split between awareness and commentary / analysis of the experience. How to reassure the active pole it will be used again soon?
Found I got into a peaceful place more easily with a less structured practice. Thank you so much for a lovely week x
I was able to use the 'let go of the seat' advice from previously. It felt so expansive during that, panoramic, grand vista, light and, well, just great in general... Thank you 💚
Thank you for all the meditation this week.
found it difficult to just sit, my mind was active and jumping around a bit and impatient. when I am focusing on my breathing I find it easier to control my mind so I went back to this and experiencing the body which helped quieten and relax me.
What you said about the paintings in a gallery at the beginning was really useful :)
It was a great meditation today, I felt like I was truly listening to myself, to my deepest feelings. Thank you so much for leading it so well! 🙏🏼💕
real pleasure to meditate with you all this week. I hope I will keep it up. Thank you.
I use an app Called OFFTIME to suspend all apps for pre defined periods... I spend around 80% less time on my phone as a result

I really enjoy the just sitting - I find the other practices abit complicated to remember the order sometimes
I found just sitting brought feelings into my mind
Thank you. I feel immense gratitude to you, Callum and all of the people who have led and supported this course. Knowing that there have been so many participants also reassures me about wholesomeness and good intention in the world. The course has given me many new ways of living to explore.
Q. My question was Is it too distracting to keep your eyes open when “just sitting”? I feel I’d like to look out of the window or does this defeat the object?
Thank you Prajnamanas and Callum for your time and gentle presence this week - it's been absolutely wonderful. :)
Q : just sitting - do we let go of following the breath? if your body starts hurting _ do we try to focus on the breath again and sooth it?
Q: yesterday merging mindfulness & meta & today felt really warming! is this because I'm improving after a week of practice? or these styles encourage deeper peace?
Q. I throughly enjoyed this more open practice of sitting today and this week with your guidance and chats at the end of the class have been very interesting and enjoyable. My body felt heavy and I sat in comfort. My Question about the practice of mindfulness for breathing with meta and sitting which has been a lovely journey is that you mentioned at the start of the meditation to feel where you are sat in the room and to bring all your attention to the body at that present time . As I’m spiritual person and from Indian decent I do follow energy systems , could this meditation be a gateway or form to reach cosmic energy as well ? I know this is a different practice and I’m not trying to mix my learning but be interesting to know your view point on this .. Thank you 🙏🏽
Thanks again. I am very grateful. Stay safe everyone.
Thank you for a wonderful three weeks of practice!
I found the meditation wonderful. During ‘just sitting’ I had lots of overlapping images, music, scenarios coming to mind. I found that I kept actively ‘switching off’ these thoughts, letting them go. I ended up with myself becoming a ‘part’ of the landscape. Like an old piece of natural stone, part of a landscape. This seemed to help me to just ‘be’ for moments.
Eleanor, that feels extremely similar to my experience. You expressed it better👌🏾
thank you for all you have done. I find it hard to quantify what I have gained each day, yet I have a sense of great loss now thinking this is the end of this practice.
Brilliant analogy! 😁
I find all of your analogies and metaphors very helpful & entertaining. Thank you.
Q What time are the daily online meditations?
I have really enjoyed this week with you and Callum, and the three weeks in general. thank you.
what are your thoughts on the likes of headspace? would the meditations be very different to the ones we have been doing?
if you’re practising by yourself, what’s the best way to know when to move between the different stages? I’m thinking that a series of alarms on my phone would be quite unsettling!
